I got this system-in-a-box a few days ago. My husband was in charge of mounting the speakers on the ceiling while I hooked up all the wires. Be sure to buy some speaker mounts while you’re at the store unless you plan on setting them on a table, etc. After hooking up the whole thing , we realized what a good choice we made. I’m a Sony fan through and through but I really didn’t know what to expect. I sampled several different systems at several different stores, but you simply can’t get the full effect until you have it in your home. First, we listened to the radio for a while - easy to navigate both on the receiver and on the remote. After some fiddling with bass and treble, the balances were perfect. Next, a DVD - our test DVD was the Transporter. Picture was crystal clear, sound was phenomenal. We felt as if we were in the car with him. The subwoofer delivered powerful booms and explosions. Sometimes when I’m home alone and I’m not paying attention to what’s on TV, I hear something from the surround speakers and it scares me to death! It’s great! I also love having the 5-disc changer. I was used to watching DVDs on my PS2. On that note, our PS2 games are 500 times more fun now with great surround sound. This is a great system with a ton of customizable settings. You can set your speaker distance and balances. The DVD player has 5 different picture modes (dynamic 1 %26 2, cinema 1 %26 2, and standard.) You can listen in normal surround, dolby digital (2 different settings), jazz hall mode, game mode, etc. You can customize everything! Wonderful investment!
