Panasonic has been a well-known and reliable company for some time. Most of their products are made well, have many features, and are usually reasonably priced. In the home theater category, Panasonic has developed the SC-HT220. A fairly basic home theater featuring a 280 watt amplifier, and a 70 watt subwoofer for the low-end. Decoding is accomplished using a Dolby Pro-Logic processor. Because of this, the unit isnt fully compatible with DVD or other digital video systems, but it will still have simulated surround sound. VHS is optimized for Dolby Pro-Logic, so this unit would work best with a VCR. The speakers appear as though they may be a little on the light side. However, they should still provide adequate sound in small to medium size rooms.
