We purchased this system on sale for $349.00 Canadian at Wal-mart. As this is our first home theater system we are quite happy with it, although it does seem to confuse the poor dog as the sound quality on certain DVD’s came through rather nicely he was going somewhat ranky thinking we had a house full of birds. The front surround speakers are somewhat small compared to other systems we have seen but the sound quality is exceptional. As for the rear surround speakers, we have found that we have had to lower the volume a bit as they overpowered the center speaker, however once we found a level we were happy with, the volume was fine.

We enjoyed the options of being able to use the different sound settings on the system which gave us a choice of either multimedia, speech, movie, personal,music,etc.

The “test tone” also helped with setting the volume of the surround sound.

When we brought the system home we did have a bit of a hard time trying to figure out the instructions for hooking up numerous components to the system. Once we hooked up our satellite, VCR, DVD, and TV to the system we found it easy to move back and forth between each system with the remote, unfortunately you do have to use different remotes as the one with the system is for the home theater system only.

We did run into some trouble trying to get the VCR to record even with the proper wires running from the receiver to the in/out connections in the VCR but since corrected that by hooking the VCR up directly to the satellite.

We found that the Tuner was easy to program with our local radio stations and the reception is nice and clear.

The Subwoofer does not have to be maxed out as we have found it perfect set at about half. Although it does have enough power to knock stuff off shelves in the next room, and make the poor dog jump out of his skin the first time we put it on with him in the room.
