I had been in the “market” for a complete home theater system for quite some time and did some extensive research including on these units. I also had a budget, to make things more difficult. I have some experience with high end audio components, so getting good qulaity equipment was
important. The Yamaha YHT-300 is a practical, quality complete audio system with terrific sound reproduction. The system was complete out of the box and very easy to assemble with clear instructions. This system does not come with a CD/DVD player, however I already had other components to plug in. It was compatible with all my other “toys” (i.e. Satillite receiver, flat screen monitor, CD/DVD player). Once assembled, the sound was fantastic. I am very impressed with the music and movie audio processing, the variety of sound fields, and overall appearance of the components.
The only issues I have with this system is the poor quality audio/video cable supplied with the system. I spent another $100.00 for higher quality cables and speaker wire. The satellites are larger than some of the other speakers available, but not obtrusive. The sub-woofer is fair, but adequate for the room it is in.
In conclusion, this is overall a wonderful system for the audiophile with a budget. I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
