I purchased this system at Sears in March and found from the beginning it had trivial problems that bugs the hell out of me. This is a great system. It has Dolby Digital surround sound, a 25-watt amp and from what I could hear, decent sound. It suited me fine in an average size apartment. However, about once every two movies (or whatever I am using it for, be it cable tv, a music CD, etc.) it will go silent for up to 5 seconds. I was living somewhere with bad wiring when I first purchased this product and blamed it on the house, but when I moved the problem still occured. I have since taken it back to Sears and had it inspected. They found no problem at all and explained to me that it was probably overheating. This bugs me somewhat because there is nothing you can do about the device overheating. I don’t have the volume up really loud, so although turning the volume down may help, I won’t be able to hear what I’m playing. The other problem, although even more trivial, bugs me the most. The remote that comes with the device has a very poor range. The distance is not so much a problem as the angle and the strength of the signal. I can use the remote at more than 15 feet away, however the remote will only work when facing the device directly. The slightest angle (or the smallest of objects) will render the remote useless. Finally, the DVD tray takes 5 to 7 seconds to open. I’m lazy. This annoys me.
