Audiophiles beware?

Let’s get something straight. I do recommend this system for most people. However, if you don’t mind the tackiness of large speakers and you have the space, get larger speakers. It is is simple physics that state you will typically get more full-bodied sound with larger speakers. I do love my Lifestyle 50, but it is not for everyone. If you consider yourself an “audiophile”, then you will not buy this system. I love music, and I love loud music. With this system it seems to sound even better when played loud. But I do also have another sound system, a high-end system that I won’t bore you with the details…and yes it does sound better. You will find that for everyone that likes this system, there will be some little whiny guy stating that sucks and their system with Marantz this and their that is the best ever for the same money or less.

“Wifeability Factor”

I mention this because in my opinion, this should be your main reason to buy the 50. (If you are female, please don’t be offended by “wifeability”, I’m just making a point here.) Anyway, in my family room resides the main TV room where we tend to spend most of our time either entertaining or watching DVDs. With the speakers mounted in the right locations, you can’t even see the speakers. This was a major factor in equipping my main room with speakers. I’ll try to wrap it up here by saying that if you don’t want to look at your speakers every day, get the Lifestyle 50. It has great sound for Home Theater and listening to CD’s. I don’t like the way this system receives FM signals and reproduces the sound. The controller is cool, but would be great if it could control other components.

The 50 can play music very loud and clear with good quality. However if you believe that you need to play music for 300 people and are partially deaf, then please go buy a 10,000 watt system and a component rack that is 6 feet tall. As a side note, I do have a system that is what some would call “overbearing” but it is in my basement where space and appearance is not a factor. But I still prefer my 50 for my main level entertainment room. The size of the system including the control module is great. Tiny speakers and component, great sound and features. The controller has a “wow” factor with it’s unique shape and neat-o indigo illumination. I would buy this system again, and I would recommend it for most people.

In summary, you will get better sound from some large high-end speakers with high-end components. But for the size, 50 packs a great punch. If you are tight on money and don’t mind large speakers, go buy a receiver with some Cerwin-Vegas. It will sound O.K. but hey, you get what you pay for. If price isn’t a factor and you don’t mind the space, then yes, go visit a high-fidelity store and build a dream system. If done right, it is well worth it.
