IntroThis is my second home theater system. The first system, I bought five years ago, was bulky, lacked power, and simply was outdated. The SC-HT95 features Progressive Scan, five speakers Totaling in Power of 500W with a 190W Subwoofer, Dolby Digital Decoder, 5-disk changer, and Component Video Out, all of which my old system did not have.

Installation

Installing the system was straightforward. Panasonic provides stickers to place on the individual speaker wires, making it easier to identifying them. This was a great idea, since one of the problems I had with my previous system was confusing the numerous speaker wires. I also liked the fact that Panasonic provided large-enough wires with the system, in my previous system I had to purchase two separate speaker wires because the wires provided were too short to cover my est. 24ft by 24ft bedroom.

Pros

Another advantage the SC-HT95 had over my previous system is the compactness of the overall system. All-in-all the size of the SC-HT95 is probably half the size of my previous system. Since my room isn’t very large and is already crowded, this certainly was fantastic.

The SC-HT95 in terms of appearance I would say is pretty pleasant. The component’s face is made of a highly reflective material that seems like a mirror. The rest is made of a plastic/metal colored in silver. The component itself probably weight around 15 pounds. The remote and the speakers are also made of a silver plastic with the Panasonic logo on the speakers able to turn so that you can stand it in any way you want too.

As for the picture quality of SC-HT95, I cannot really provide you an excellent opinion on this matter since my TV set is even older than my previous home theater system. To fully take advantage of the picture quality of SC-HT95 you need to have an HDTV set. My system doesn’t even have component inputs, but I’m sure the quaity of picture would be great if I had one. Although I don’t have the right TV, it is of great comfort to have these features so that I won’t have to worry about upgrading the system once I purchase an HDTV Television in the future; I’m waiting for the price to fall. The picture quality, however, is still significantly much more superior compared to astandard VHS play back. Just imagine the potential though if I had component inputs, or a HDTV TV.

The sound is great, could do a bit better, but you get what you paid for, which is worth it. It is certainly a big leap compared to my previous system. However, like other raters here, I was disappointed with the subwoofer which seems weaker than it should. Despite that it still provides a bang and watching your favorite action film would be very exhilarating.

Cons:

The remote does not have an eject button.

Switching with the 5-disch changer take some time.

Component gets very HOT!
