I keep my reviews short, try not to expand on what others have already said.

You may have trouble finding this system new, as I think it is last year’s model, but if you are buying one used, make sure you get a service plan on it, based on my experience.

It was easy for me to set up, took about 2 hours as I’ve got to hang the surround speakers on a ceiling. Calibration was quick, and the connections all worked once properly cabled.

The DVD player is very slow to initiate, and takes its time switching, ejecting and loading discs, but that is the price to pay for such a small form factor box with a 5 disc changer.

This product worked well for us for 1.5 years (daily use), then the other morning, it took in a DVD, and went immediately into “Standby” mode, which could not be rectified, even by powering down and powering up again.

We had a service plan on it, took it back to Best Buy, who shipped it to Sony. A week later we got a call back from Best Buy to come in to the store to get a replacement unit of similar technology, as the original couldn’t be repaired.

So, we have a new Sony home theater unit(DX375), for just the price of a new service plan ($59). I’ll rate that unit if I remember, basically the same functions as the old one, but the 5 DVD changer is a pop-out tray (as opposed to a slot) which loads and ejects a lot quicker than the FX10. And, the remote is a lot more intuitive.
