I’ve had the Cinema ProPack II for about 4 1/2 years, originally purchased at Best Buy as my first DVD player and to replace my stereo entirely. The theatre system is great, with excellent sound for the level and price of this product. Interestingly, the sound levels on TV, DVD, and CD playback are all different. TV and DVD are close, generally at about -15. Playback on CDs is actually better and richer, oddly enough; I have to turn the sound down to -20 or even lower. I’m not an audiophile, so I appreciate the simplicity of setup, the pre-programmed options, and the richness of this as a sound system; I find it to be just what I need and expect. The DVD changer, on the other hand, is a bit lacking. It generally satisfied (yes, past tense) my needs, but it did have some blips. It would play some, but not all, enhanced CDs with multimedia. (I won’t even try to describe the violent sound it sometimes made when such a CD was inserted!) Likewise for some CD-Rs. It played all of my DVDs, except one I think. However, the sound would often “hiccup” during DVD playback, giving all of the actors an altered (deeper) voice! To fix this, I’d simply stop playback, then start again. Minor but annoying. Last, random play only works on a single CD, not among all CDs in the changer. The DVD player finally died, totally unexpectedly, after 4 1/2 years of use, and according to the authorized repairman isn’t worth fixing. Looks like I’m now going to replace the DVD player with a Yamaha DVD-C750, but I’m definitely keeping the sound system as is!
