Out of the box the DVD tray would not open…loud clicking sound only.
I then tested the audio capabilities by playing my iPod Shuffle through the audio input. The volume was extremely disappointing for a 1000 watt system!
After returning the receiver and getting a replacement, the first time I turned it on I got the loud clicking again, but it went away thereafter.
The DVD trays would not open! The unit wouldn’t even power off consistently.
I will try to use this unit strictly as a mini-home theater audio system in my bedroom using the audio outputs from my TV.
I would avoid this unit like the plague!!!

OK…got the unit hooked up. First the positive things: remote control worked for Subwoofer control, Surround Sound select, automatic Tuner preset, mono/stereo select, Sleep and DVD/Tuner/USB/Aux select. Also was able to adjust individual speaker volumes from Setup menu.
Negative things: Loud clicking sound at first that took several power up/power downs to get rid off. Receiver has to cycle through trays everytime you turn it on which is really irritating! I connected the TV audio outputs to the receiver inputs and the receiver video out to the TV so I could see the Setup menu. Could see the Setup window, but no “setup” displayed. Only options I could adjust were speaker volume.
Never did get the DVD trays to open! I think the 5 buttons for the 5 DVD trays are there just to tease you! Volume is acceptable if I turn each speaker to maximum, but then center speaker hisses! Could not get receiver to turn off either manually or via remote! Had to unplug receiver everytime! This of course deleted all the tuner presets so I had to run automatic tuner preset each time. Receiver likes to tease me with “Bye Bye” flashing but never leaving…like a college grad that won’t move out!
Aside from the fact that the DVD player won’t work, receiver won’t turn off and can’t see the Setup Menu this Home Theater unit would be a bargain at a Yard Sale for $50!
Did I mentioned that I returned the first receiver and this is the replacement? Now I have to decide whether to deal with RCA directly to try and get a working unit. I actually never intended to use the DVD player with HDMI output since I already own a DVD player with HDMI output. I really just wanted a small footprint 5.1 Home Theater system for audio in the bedroom. However, it would be great to get what I paid for.
Bottom line…run away, don’t walk if you ever see the RCA RTD260 Home Theater system!
